Virtual Easter Carnival

Apr 4, 2020

It's our tradition to have a big celebration after service on Easter! This year we will have an all-day Virtual Easter Carnival with various events for all ages, from 'Easter Dinner Parties' to 'Chocolate Mousse making with Pastor Susan', sing-a-longs, crafts and more, all happening over Zoom throughout the day! Then, an evening Team Trivia Night!

Events will be happening throughout the day from 12 to 8:30pm! In support of our neighbors (and just for fun), a random participant from each session will win a gift card to a local small business

The schedule is below... Zoom links and passwords below!

Easter Festival Lineup

12p Petting Zoo: Bring your own pet or come admire new ones in this interactive animal show-and-tell. Great for animal lovers of any age!

1p Creative Corner: Make an Easter basket, paint with foam, and check out a rainbow egg science experiment! Follow along or just take in the show – while anyone can enjoy this session, it is designed for lower elementary and preschool-aged kids.

If you’d like to do these creative activities yourself, bring:

  • For the paper bag craft: paper lunch bag, scissors, markers, stickers, tape, something to put in the basket (e.g., small stuffed animal, plastic eggs, candy, chocolate, etc)
  • For painting with puffy paint: 2Tbsp white glue, 1cup shaving cream, plain paper or printed egg template, 4 cups or bowls, 4 paint brushes or spoons, food coloring, paper towels or wipes
  • For fizzy rainbow Easter eggs: plastic eggs in an egg tray (or small clear cups without eggs), baking soda, vinegar, food coloring, paper towels or wipes, baking pan (or something to contain a liquid mess)

2p Bingo: Win Highrock swag in this classic game, great for all ages! Bring paper to make your own bingo cards and something to write with.

3p Chocolate Mousse Making: Indulge your sweet tooth with Pastor Susan! You can make mousse together or watch how to do it for later. If you’d like to make mousse during the session, you will need: 6oz of bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, finely chopped, liquid (water, coffee, milk, or heavy cream), 3 eggs, sugar, whipped cream (optional), 6-8 ramekins (or something similarly sized), and an instant-read thermometer (optional).

4p Magic and Music: Prepared to be wowed by Ellie the Extraordinary (and learn some new tricks to try at home)! Afterwards, get ready to move as we sing and dance to this year’s Summer Blast songs. This session is great for all ages but geared towards kids.

5p Easter Dinner Parties: Unable to join family this year? Celebrate the miracle of Easter by breaking bread with your neighbors! We’ll join in small groups to (virtually) enjoy dinner and good conversation as we reflect on this unprecedented Easter season. Bring your own meal, including bread and a beverage to use during communion.

6p Storytime: Get ready for bedtime with an Easter-themed story. While anyone is welcome to join, this session is designed for lower-elementary age and younger.

6:45p It’s Game Time! Calling all upper elementary, tweens, and youth! Join Mary for a variety of interactive games.

8:30p Team Trivia: All the fun of pub trivia, from the comfort of your couch! End the night with some friendly competition, come solo or recruit a team in advance. BYOB optional.
