Pledge Sunday is November 17th!

Nov 9, 2019

Back in September, Highrock Acton launched the Welcome HOME campaign -- a church-wide, Spirit-led effort to raise $1 million over a two-year period to transform our new property on 255 Great Rd. in Acton into a place we're proud to call home! This transformed property will allow us to welcome more people to find their true home in God's love!

We've been receiving pledges since September with a goal of receiving the full amount needed in pledges by mid-November. Our church is having a special Pledge Sunday this coming week, on November 17th, where we will receive pledges during the offering and have a special prayer of consecration for all the gifts received and the work ahead!

What is a Pledge Sunday?

This may be new to some. The precedent comes from the Scriptures. We've been studying the Book of Exodus. When it was time to build the Tabernacle, the physical dwelling place for God's presence that journeyed with them through the wilderness, the people made a freewill offering of gifts and talents to make the building possible. This happens again when it's time to build the Temple in the Book of Chronicles. And there's yet another similar outpouring of free generosity when it's time to form a new Community of Jesus-followers in the New Testament.

When the offering basket comes around this Sunday, we will ask anyone who considers Highrock their spiritual home, or wants to be a part of this step forward in mission, to fill out a PLEDGE CARD. If you don't have one already, we will have Pledge cards available at church.

Above your info, you are invited to fill out what you desire to PLEDGE over a 2-yr period. For many, this may be a monetary gift. But you are also welcome to write the word "TIME" or "TALENTS" or "PRAYER." These are all ways people can contribute to this project and we'd love to follow-up with you on your desire to participate in that way!

What if I have already made a Pledge online or already made a donation?

Even if you've already filled out a pledge online or made a donation, we invite you to fill out a physical card this Sunday as a symbol of your participation. After the pledge cards are received with the offering, they will be brought to the altar table at the end of service as we entrust these gifts and ourselves to God through a special prayer of consecration.

What if I can't be there this Sunday?

If you'd like to participate but are unable to be present this Sunday, you are welcome to fill out a pledge online right HERE, or mail a pledge card or "Welcome HOME" donation to:

How will I know what to give?

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7). The amount you decide to give is something you must personally discern before and with God (and with your spouse if you are married). The capital campaign is an intentional time of self-reflection and prayer where we each ask God, “How is my worship and commitment to you expressed in my giving and living?” Following the examples laid out in Scripture, we believe God calls us to give “freely and wholeheartedly,” while also recognizing this project is a generational investment, one that requires “over and above” generosity that stretches our faith and helps us grasp the meaning of sacrifice for the sake of welcoming more people into God's Kingdom.

Hey, can kids can participate in this too?

YES!! We've been sharing about the Welcome HOME campaign in Kidsrock and some kids have even been part of the new building tours. During worship on Sunday, the kids will remain in the service during the Offering of Pledges and they are welcome to pledge as well!

In addition, a ton of kids and youth are baking goodies this week and will be selling them after church as a way for Kidsrock to raise money for the campaign! We invite you to bring a few $$ to help support our kids in their participation!

This is all about MISSION: By creating a place we're proud to call home, together we can WELCOME more people to find their true HOME in God's love!
