Advent at Highrock!

Nov 18, 2018

Worn out from a busy fall and weary from bad news, we can’t wait for the chance to escape it all at Christmas. But the trees and gifts, stockings and candles were never meant to magically transport us out of this world. They were meant to be symbols of the hope Jesus is bringing to this world! This Advent we’ll explore how these iconic Christmas symbols point to the many ways God shows up in our lives -- and how they invite us to practice Christmas differently. Instead of seeking sentimental escape, how can we follow Jesus by showing up for our neighbors?

We'll explore this question through our annual Advent Highrock preacher swap as we hear from different pastors from various Highrock congregations. Our weekly Sunday worship will have special Advent readings, jazz-inspired music, and will all lead up to our KidsRock children's choir signing a few songs during our December 23rd service.

As we celebrate the message that God has shown up for us in Jesus, we want to show up for our neighbors! On Friday, December 21st, there will be an opportunity to serve and bless all our guests who come to our monthly Ann's Dinner meal at the Stow Chapel, followed by a Carol Sing for the community. In addition, we will be inviting everyone to participate in our Christmas Three campaign where we seek to give not just to our family and friends, but to give to our local and global communities as well. Stay tuned for more details!
