Brookline, Mass., March 1 - Highrock Brookline announced today that Kat Hampson will become its new Lead Pastor following a vote at a members’ meeting on February 28, 2021.
In order to better welcome and serve our neighbors from international communities, we are thrilled to offer courses for English Language Learners at Highrock Acton. We offer two classes, currently both virtual:
Tuesdays 6:30-8:00, virtual: "Level One English” — a course for “true beginners” in a traditional classroom style.
At day & time of student & partner choosing, virtual: “English Conversation Course” — a mixed-level course that focuses on speaking practice, and generally includes icebreaker activities followed by guided 1-on-1 conversation practice with a fluent English speaker.
There are many ways you can get involved! We are looking for:
Conversation Partners — Fluent English speakers to practice 1-on-1 with our students during Thursday’s English Conversation Course — no previous teaching experience necessary!
Lead Teachers — volunteers willing to run the icebreaker activities and be the “upfront” teacher during English Conversation Course, or experienced English/Language teachers who might be interested in teaching/substituting for our more traditional classes.
Children’s Programming Volunteers — we offer programming for our student’s children during both Tuesday and Thursday courses.
Registration/Outreach Assistants —volunteers proficient in a language other than English who would be willing to help us communicate with potential students and/or translate materials.
To sign up for the course, to volunteer, or simply to receive more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
