Christmas T(h)ree

We love to celebrate Christmas by placing gifts under the tree and filling up stockings for our family and friends. But the arrival of Jesus has always meant “good news of great joy for ALL people” (Luke 2:10). This year we invite you to multiply or divide up your Christmas giving by THREE so that the gifts of your time and treasures are spread evenly between THREE groups: your family and friends, your local community, and those across the globe.

Rather than redirecting your current offering to the church, which already fuels ministry both locally and globally in exciting, much-needed ways, this is an invitation to reexamine and broaden your practice of Christmas giving, so we can help make sure there’s a gift under EVERY Christmas tree! Here are some suggestions:

WAYS TO GIVE TO OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY:

  • Groceries for our Ann’s Dinner Guests - we are collecting donations so we can bless 100 guests to our December Ann’s Dinner meal each with a $25 gift card to a local grocery store. Make a gift with a check payable to “Highrock Acton,” in multiples of $25, with ‘Ann’s Dinner gift cards’ on the memo line, or make an online donation to the MULTIPLY fund.

  • Help launch a new sister center for Hagar’s Sisters - this local ministry is on the front lines of liberating women from domestic violence. Any gift made through Dec. 31st will be doubled through a matching grant. Visit hagarssisters.org/donate

  • Build a new home with Habitat for Humanity - a two-family affordable home is under construction in South Acton. No experience required. Tools and training provided. Explore construction volunteer opportunities at ncmhabitat.org

  • Send a Kid to Camp - every year our church has teenagers who rely on scholarships to attend winter retreats and summer camp at Pilgrim Pines where they can have a unique life-changing experience.  Make a gift with a check payable to “Highrock Acton” with ‘Youth Scholarship’ on the memo line, or make an online donation to the MULTIPLY fund.

  • Give Christmas to a Local Family - the Morizio family is providing Christmas meals, gifts, and stockings to various local families who couldn’t otherwise afford them. If you’d like to gift your time or money to this effort, contact Matt at matt@beckbode.com or get more details at matthewmorizio.com/christmas

WAYS TO GIVE TO YOUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY:

  • Sponsor a child through Covenant Kids Congo - our church is invested in helping children in the Congo flourish through our Clinic Initiative and 6K Walk for Water. For $40/month, or a one-time donation, you can gift a child with healthcare, education, clean water, nutrition, and more. Visit covchurch.org/covenantkidscongo

  • Invest in the Covenant’s Mission Priorities - our denomination has exciting initiatives throughout the nation and world to develop more disciples in a more just and caring world. You can give $50 toward housing projects in under-resourced neighborhoods in Detroit or to advocate for immigrants, or give $75 to help raise up women in ministry, or $250 to build a bridge in Congo. Explore all these opportunities and more at covcares.covchurch.org

  • Support the Sr. High mission trip to the Dominican Republic - this July our senior high students are participating in their first-ever mission trip to serve alongside existing churches and ministries Highrock is already partnered with. Make this unique discipleship experience a possibility by making a gift with a check payable to ‘Highrock Acton’ with ‘DR mission trip’ on the memo line, or make an online donation to the MULTIPLY fund.

If you are looking for other opportunities to give locally or globally, please contact any of the Highrock pastors. Thank you for helping bring joy to ALL people!
